A modern retreat on the edge of Ireland

Breac House, North West Donegal

It was an honour and pleasure to be part of this very special project. Award-winning Breac House is a modern retreat at the far edge of Co. Donegal. Care and consideration was given to creating a place that is truly special down to every detail.

The owners worked with a selection of Irish designers and makers to make pieces especially for this project, creating a space where each piece brings its own story.

This solid oak sideboard was made for the central lounge and relaxation space, housing a coffee machine, record player, glasses and servery items. A large piece at 2.4mtrs, and with a solid oak construction this is a durable, long-lasting piece of furniture that will age with character. The black Jack-in-the-Box Lamp sits nicely on top and is a lovely surprise for guests when they return in the evening to discover the lamp open.

Custom-made reading chairs reflect the colour and shape of Muckish mountain in the distance.

We worked with a traditional chair maker and upholsterer in Co. Monaghan to make reading chairs for the three suites. The linen fabric was specially chosen by Breac House and was from Ulster Weavers.

Nestled into the corner of the room as a sofa, the individual chairs can be easily moved for guests to sit and read while enjoying the splendid view back into Donegal.
