Designs from our studio, in the heart of Kerry
Tricia Harris
Furniture Designer
A love of making led me to study at The Furniture College, Letterfrack. At this renowned school of furniture making, situated in the wilds of Connemara on the West coast of Ireland, I spent 4 years learning skills in furniture design and manufacture.
A decade of life in Dublin involved an unexpected detour into the world of academia, lecturing for a number of years in Griffith College, completing a Masters Degree at Trinity College, and returning to Letterfrack College as an external examiner.
The dream of establishing a furniture design studio was never far from my mind. Taking a studio space in The Chocolate Factory, an establishing creative hub in 2012, in the heart of Dublin city led to developing and growing a business and being part of an exciting creative community.
2020, a year of change. Time to trade city life for the draw of country living, a return to my roots in Co. Kerry.
The story continues every day.
I'm loving the journey.
Philosophy:
Function + Beauty + Simplicity + Consideration
Style over trends. Search for things you truly connect with and you will love them forever. They will not go out of fashion.
Permanent over transient. Choosing and collecting a smaller quantity of good quality, long-lasting items that will be looked after, kept, and handed down. Avoiding the throwaway culture as best we can.
Contentment over perfection. Enjoying the wonderful sense of joy in being absorbed in the process of making and the satisfaction in having created something. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but made well and in a considered way.
Objects that endure, craft that lives.
We work with highly skilled Irish manufacturers to produce distinctive pieces that are made to be loved and used.
Detail that delights
Our furniture is always underpinned by function but we like to integrate character and considered details into our designs.
Sustainability at the heart of what we do.
Good things, made well. For us, creating things that last is one of the fundamental values of sustainable practice.
Less but better; A mantra to live by, and create by.
Materials and energy are a valuable resource consumed in the manufacture of products, the responsibility lies with us to create and buy products that at least do justice to the resources that go into making them.
