Spotlight on Irish craft for Etsy offices in Dublin
Like their global ecommerce platform, built to support craft sellers and allow creativity to live and thrive, Etsy’s new offices follow a similar philosophy and give a platform for local design and craft.
“In each office, Etsy likes to work with artists and makers in the region to create unique pieces that align with Etsy's values and represent the local craft community.”

Providing an opportunity to highlight local craft and joinery and to showcase Irish materials.
New York based architect, Jeremy Babel, as Workplace Design Consultant for Etsy, invited Studio Harris to collaborate on the furniture scope which included dining tables, meeting room tables, and a number of feature pieces.
The design concept was a modern workplace thoroughly infused with the colors and textures of the varied Irish landscape.
A focus on quality materials and handcrafted work.
Simple pared-back design, prioritising craft and function, where the beauty of natural solid materials is to the fore and exposed joinery details showcase the skill of the maker.
Large Irish oak slabs were used for the Eatsy Dining tables which were the main communal dining tables spanning total of 4.5mtrs in length. The gap running along the centre providing both a visual element and a seamless way to manage cables to the floor outlets. Exceptional craftsmanship shines through and these will age beautifully with time.
Studio Harris worked with Valentia Slate, one of the oldest quarries in Ireland, situated on Valentia Island off the west coast of Co. Kerry, to produce organic shaped stone tops. These honed slate tops sat on reeded wood bases and were a feature piece in the hybrid working area. Inset slate trivets were also a feature of the dining tables.

“With expert knowledge of local materials and craftsmanship, Studio Harris produced a series of beautiful and unique pieces that celebrate the natural character of Irish oak, ash and slate.”

“This was a dream project for us, allowing us to create design-led, craft pieces with soul for a commercial space.”
